Limited Warranty
Every First Mate XT is warranted against defects in materials and workmanship for one year from the date of original purchase. This page sets out exactly what that covers and what it does not.
Coverage Period
First Mate Fishing warrants the First Mate XT live sonar pole against defects in materials and workmanship under normal use for a period of one (1) year from the date of original purchase.
What is Covered
This warranty covers the primary components of the First Mate XT, including:
What is NOT Covered (Exclusions)
This limited warranty does not apply to:
Mounting Failures: Damage caused by the user’s choice of mounting hardware, location, or installation method.
Power Negligence: Damage to the motor or electronics caused by failure to disconnect the power cable when unattended, or failure to use a properly fused circuit.
Impact Damage: Damage caused by hitting underwater obstructions (stumps, rocks, etc.), trailering the boat with the pole deployed, or high-speed travel while the pole is in the water.
Environmental Exposure: Damage resulting from the control box being submerged or exposed to high-pressure washing.
What We Will Do
If a defect covered by this warranty appears during the warranty period, First Mate Fishing will, at its option, repair the product, replace it with a product of the same or equivalent specification, or refund the original purchase price. Repair or replacement is the exclusive remedy under this warranty.
At Our Expense: We pay for parts and labor on any repair we carry out, and for shipping the repaired or replacement unit back to you within the United States.
At Your Expense: You are responsible for the cost of shipping the product to us, unless we tell you otherwise in writing.
Timing: We aim to complete warranty repairs, or dispatch a replacement, within thirty (30) days of receiving the returned product. If a part is on back order we will tell you and give you an expected date.
Parts: Replacement parts may be new or refurbished to a condition equivalent to new. Repair or replacement does not extend or restart the original one (1) year warranty period.
Who This Warranty Covers
This warranty is extended to the original purchaser only and is not transferable.
Proof of Purchase: A valid proof of purchase from First Mate Fishing or an authorized reseller is required for every claim.
Second-Hand Units: Products acquired second-hand, or purchased from a seller who is not an authorized reseller of First Mate Fishing, are not covered by this warranty.
How to Make a Claim
To make a claim, submit the warranty claim form on this site within the warranty period. Include your order number, a description of the fault, and photographs showing the defect.
Wait for Instructions: Do not ship any product back to us before we have issued return instructions and an address. Items returned without instructions may be refused.
Inspection: We may ask for additional photographs, video, or information about the installation and use of the product before approving a claim.
Limitations and Your Legal Rights
The following limitations apply to this warranty. Depending on the state you live in, some of them may not apply to you.
Duration of Implied Warranties: Any implied warranties, including the implied warranties of merchantability and fitness for a particular purpose, are limited in duration to the one (1) year term of this written warranty.
Limit of Our Liability: To the fullest extent permitted by law, our total liability under this warranty is limited to the amount you paid for the product.
Incidental and Consequential Damages: We are not liable for incidental or consequential damages, including but not limited to loss of use, lost fishing or tournament time, entry fees, travel and lodging costs, or damage to your vessel or to third-party electronics.
