The Problem: The "Manual Struggle"

We’ve all been there. You spot a brush pile or a group of fish on your live sonar, but then the wind kicks in. Your boat drifts just a few degrees, and suddenly, your target is gone.

To find them again with a manual pole, you have to:

  • Let go of your rod:
You take your hand off the reel to reach for a clunky handle.

  • The “Three-Hand” Problem:
You’re trying to manage the trolling motor, hold your fishing rod, and rotate the transducer pole all at the same time. Something always gives.
  • Constant Adjustments:
Every time the boat moves, you’re leaning over, twisting a handle, and looking away from the screen—right when the strike is about to happen.
  • Missed Opportunities:
By the time you’ve re-aligned your transducer manually, the fish has moved or you’ve drifted off the sweet spot.
A man in a cap and fishing gear kneels on a boat, grimacing with effort as he pulls a fishing pole near the water, surrounded by a lake and trees in the background.

Core Features & Benefits

Wireless Controls: No More Clunky Manual Adjustments

Take your hands off the transducer pole and put them back where they belong.

We offer two wireless control options tailored to how you fish:

Foot Controls (For Active Fishing):
Ideal for anglers who are constantly casting. Adjust your live sonar with a quick tap of your foot, allowing you to track fish and scan structure without ever taking your hands off your rod.

Key Fobs (For Trolling):
Perfect for trolling or spider rigging. The fob gives you the flexibility to rotate the pole from anywhere on the boat, whether you are adjusting gear at the console or sitting back in your seat.

Universal Compatibility: Upgrade Without the Overhaul

You shouldn’t have to rebuild your entire setup just to go hands-free. The First Mate XT is designed to easily integrate with the gear you already trust, saving you time, frustration, and money.

Drop-In Installation: Forget drilling new holes or buying expensive new mounting brackets. Our system is designed to use your existing mounting hardware. Simply pull out your clunky manual pole, drop the First Mate XT directly into the current mount, and you are ready to hit the water.

Plays Nice With the Big Three: Engineered to work flawlessly with the top live sonar systems on the market, including Garmin LiveScope, Humminbird MEGA Live, and Lowrance ActiveTarget.

Standardized 1 1/4″ Adapter : The universal pole end adapter is precisely 1 1/4 inches in diameter. This standard sizing ensures that almost any transducer on the market will bolt directly and securely onto the end of the pipe without the need for custom modifications.

Rugged Construction: Built for the Elements

When you're out on the water, your gear takes a beating from the sun, wind, and rough chop. The First Mate XT is built from the ground up using industrial-grade, outdoor-rated materials so it won't let you down when the conditions get tough.

Rock-Solid Backbone:

The main shaft is constructed from strong, black anodized aluminum pipe. It provides rigid stability in heavy currents or while trolling, all while remaining lightweight and highly resistant to rust and marine corrosion.

Weatherproof PETG Housing:

The core housings are manufactured using tough, outdoor-rated PETG. This material is specifically chosen for its excellent UV resistance, meaning it can bake in the summer sun all day without warping, cracking, or breaking down.

Reinforced Nylon Components:

For the highest-stress wear points, we utilize impact-resistant printed Nylon materials. This ensures the moving parts and structural connections can handle the physical abuse of long boat rides and rough water.

Versatility & Power: Fish Year-Round, Anywhere

The First Mate XT isn't just for your boat, and it doesn't require a complicated installation. We designed it to be as adaptable as the anglers who use it.

Hard Water Ready (Ice Fishing Tripod):

The core housings are manufactured using tough, outdoor-rated PETG. This material is specifically chosen for its excellent UV resistance, meaning it can bake in the summer sun all day without warping, cracking, or breaking down.

The "Stump Happens" Replacement Promise

Let’s be real—accidents happen on the water. You misjudge a stump, a rogue wave pushes you into the dock, or someone trips over your gear. If you accidentally break a part on your First Mate XT, rest assured I have your back. Because I build these myself, I don't charge you massive markups for a simple replacement plastic bracket like the big brands do. I offer replacement components at incredibly fair, inexpensive prices to get you fixed up and back to fishing. I want to build a long-term relationship with my customers, not make a quick buck off your bad luck.

But I realized I was spending more time fighting my equipment than watching my sonar. I grew tired of constantly wrestling with a manual handle and making endless adjustments every time the wind picked up or the boat drifted. I needed a way to stay on the fish without having to keep a hand on the pole at all times.

Customer satisfaction is my top priority. Since my name is on every unit that leaves my shop, I want to make sure you’re as happy with yours as I am with mine. If you’re looking for a simple, rugged, and affordable way to get the most out of your live sonar, I’m proud to offer you the First Mate XT.

Robbie " Goose" Hernderson

I really love my First Mate XT and how it is connected to the foot pedal because I can see a fish in live scope and once I hook it I can use the foot pedal and I will start looking for more fish when I am reeling in the one I hooked it has been a huge game changer for me and my live scope.

I’ve been running the First Mate XT since the very beginning, and I swear by it. It is hands down the best addition I’ve made to my boat. The versatility is unmatched—I actually used a simple bike repair mount to rig mine up, and it holds rock solid. If you are looking for a motorized pole that just works, buy this.

I’ve tried manual poles, but the motorized control on the XT is on another level. Being able to tap a button and sweep the transducer while my hands are busy with the rod has put more fish on the ice for me this season. Smooth, quiet, and tough.
